New chief of breast surgery
Dr. Mediget Teshome, a breast surgical oncologist, has joined UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA as the new chief of breast surgery and director of breast health. In her new role, Teshome will provide breast surgical oncology leadership across the UCLA Health enterprise, including the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
TED Talk on Transplantation
Dr. Abbas Ardehali, professor of cardiothoracic surgery, investigates how to keep human hearts and lungs alive outside the body before they are transplanted.
CORELAB receives Cultural North Star Award
The CORELAB at the Division of Cardiac Surgery at UCLA has received the Cultural North Star Award, which recognizes the collaborative teamwork that serves as the cornerstone of the environment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA as well as the mission of the Cultural North Star initiative.
Dr. Jane Yanagawa is the 2023 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award recipient
The award is presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, a national organization dedicated to ensuring that compassion, respect, and empathy are at the core of all healthcare interactions.
