Vascular Surgery - Integrated

The primary goal of the UCLA Vascular Surgery Residency Program is to prepare the trainee to function as a specialist in vascular disease management, including the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of vascular disease; treatment  encompasses medical, open, and endovascular surgery. A competent resident must have a dedication to self-study and lifelong learning. The residency experience is designed to promote a fundamental understanding of vascular disease that encourages professional growth as a practitioner of vascular medicine, vascular surgery, and endovascular therapy.

The faculty at the Division of Vascular Surgery at UCLA have designed a resident rotation schedule which integrates appropriate general surgery rotations for core surgical training during the PGY-1 and PGY-2 years, surgical subspecialty experience/training during PGY-2 and PGY-3 years, and senior surgery resident experience in both general and vascular surgery during the PGY-4 year and a 12 month chief resident experience in vascular surgery during the PGY-5 year. A total of 36 months will be spent on vascular surgery rotations and 24 months on core general surgery or surgical subspecialty rotations.
