A Research Scholarship for Students from UIM Backgrounds
The Summer Surgical Scholar program is an early career development opportunity for a student of outstanding promise from an Underrepresented in Medicine background. The Scholarship role allows for early exposure to high-impact research in the Department of General Surgery, development of surgeon-mentor relationships, and recognition of scholarship with financial support.

Self-identify as Underrepresented in Medicine (African American, Latinx, Native American, Native Hawaiian, mainland Puerto Rican) - or otherwise identifies as underrepresented in medicine from a social, economic, or educational perspective.
Be in good academic standing in your MS1 year at UCLA
