Resident research spotlight: Genia Dubrovsky’s visual abstract for his research on developing intestinal lengthening technologies for patients with short bowel syndrome.

UCLA has performed several studies in pediatric surgery examining parent attitude towards shared decision making in management of appendicitis, as well as studies examining non-operative management of appendicitis. Our residents rotate at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital as interns and senior residents, serving as first assistants on a breadth of pediatric surgical cases, including imperforate anus repair, Hirschprung’s disease, and ECMO cannulations. They also rotate at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) during their R4 year to experience at a freestanding children’s hospital and develop clinical and research relationships with faculty there.

Examples of pediatric surgery research by UCLA faculty:

  • Dr. Steven Lee
  • Dr. Daniel DeUgarte
