The UCLA Pediatric Surgeons are devoted exclusively to the surgical care of infants and children with severe birth defects and acquired illnesses (e.g., cancer). Working closely with referring primary care pediatricians and family physicians as well pediatric specialists, UCLA pediatric surgeons treat a wide variety of clinical problems in neonatology, gastroenterology, oncology, nephrology, non-cardiac thoracic surgery, and several other specialty areas. Our pediatric surgeons have extensive experience with the most complex of surgical procedures treating congenital and acquired gastrointestinal and thoracic disorders in children. New technologies for minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery for infants and children are practiced routinely. The faculty also provide pediatric surgical support for the Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital. Expecting parents can also make prenatal consults with the UCLA pediatric surgeons for known fetal anomalies through our UCLA Fetal Care Center.
